This work originates from a contradiction that runs beneath the contemporary art system.
Works that address current events — wars, crises, collective tragedies — are rewarded not so much for the solidity of the research, but because they tap into a recognized moral and symbolic urgency.
Current events thus paradoxically become a shortcut to legitimacy.
Il paradosso del paraculo is situated within this ambiguity. Speaking of what is happening today can appear to be an opportunistic gesture; not speaking of it produces indifference.
The title intentionally introduces a short circuit: a situation in which every choice — exhibiting, selecting, ignoring — remains implicated in the same magnetic field. Subtly, a logic of horizontal rooting suggests a diffusion without a center or hierarchy: images, narratives, and reactions propagate, overlap, and contaminate one another. What emerges is not a resolved position, but a tension: between attention and instrumentalization, between speaking out and rhetoric, between responsibility and complicity. If the painting asks to be looked at, it does so by questioning the conditions of vision, where collective pain clashes with the desensitization of the contemporary gaze.

Biography

Born in Treviso in 1998. Earned a Diploma in Painting from the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice in 2021. Currently lives and works in Venice.
